Hey – it’s me!  just Laurel.

I am just a 50-something year old mom who lives in southeastern Michigan.  Married forever to the love of my life, Ted.  We are just like any other family with kids out there:  working hard and doing our best to raise great kids and to live as decent, moral people.

One particular thing that may set us apart just a little is that our first child was born with spina bifida.  The surgeries, struggles, stories, and stress of the past years were enough to fill a book!  And that’s just what I did!  My book, Amanda, Perfectly Made, tells the story of the first twenty-nine years of being a mom and caregiver to my daughter.

The other thing about me that I feel really strongly about and actually helped to carry me through some challenging times with raising Amanda is that I am a Christian.  God literally just held me together during times when life was falling apart.  Many times He carried me.  I tried my best to hold on, sometimes with my fingertips, as circumstances through the years beat me up a little bit.  So, our God is an awesome God and sometimes He shows me things that I just  have to blog about and share with you.

This verse says it all and is my favorite:

God sat next to me and helped me to write Amanda, Perfectly Made and He continues to help me write my blog.  You just can’t believe the direction my mind goes sometimes!
